LUMINEERS® vs Veneers

Compare LUMINEERS® and conventional porcelain veneers

Planning a dental treatment for veneers is not easy for patients, as usually there is so little that they know about new dental facilities, and they often get confused of what they hear from here and there. That is why patients should learn about LUMINEERS® and veneers, so they can choose the best that suits them. With this short article we would like to inform you about the basic informations to help you to decide easier.

Advantages and disadvantages

With veneers once you have determined, there is no going back. During the treatment the dentist removes a remarkable amount of tooth enamel, to put the veneers on. So if later on you change your mind, there is no way to reverse. While with LUMINEERS® there is no drilling from sensitive tooth structure, so this means if you change your mind about LUMINEERS®, you can get rid of it, but mind that, it is not an easy process, but still it is possible.

In nature, LUMINEERS® is very thin, what makes it so comfortable. It would not bother in the mouth it feels like if it was your own tooth. On the other hand since LUMINEERS® are so thin in comparison to traditional veneers, they are much more likely to crack, but it happens rarely. With veneers, you will feel a little uncomfortable at first, as it is thicker than an original tooth.

LUMINEERS® are ideal for modest cosmetic adjustments, like extending small teeth, fixing a chip or changing color. Veneers on the other hand are good for major dental treatments, for example closing a gap between two teeth (a diastema), without using metal braces. It is always a matter of the case, the personal state of teeth.

Way of treatment of dental veneers

You go to your dentist for a consultation, and decide which kind you would need. The dentist than prepares teeth and takes a teeth-print what will be sent out to dental laboratory. Porcelain veneers are prepared in 3-5 working days. LUMINEERS® need longer time 3-4 weeks, for it is made in the USA - temporary veneers are in option. On the 2nd visit the dentist places it in your mouth and finishes the job.

Pricing of LUMINEERS® and conventional veneers

Usually people mind the price. In this comparison conventional veneers are better. Porcelain veneers costs €170-€250. LUMINEERS® costs between €500-€1000, depending on the dentistry, and the country where you would get the treatment. It is advisable to be well informed about the various dentistry's prices, so you can save money on the procedure.
